Rediscovering God in DC

June 26, 2012
$89.00 Per Person

Rediscovering God in D.C. Package Includes: Dinner, National Archives, Guided DC tour including Monuments that Revolve around Great Ideas shaped by the Belief that we are One Nation Under God, New Capitol Visitors Center and Transportation.

This tour is based upon the book, “Rediscovering God in America”, written by former House Speaker Newt Gingrich. The book is a brief but persuasive rebuttal to those who would erase all mention of God and religion from public life in the United States. Our driving & walking tour is a tour of American history, of the great men and women, the great events, the great documents, and great institutions – all shaped decisively by the genuine belief that we are a nation under God. Each stop will include an account on the history of the location; a description of the religious words, symbols, imagery found there and a discussion of the role that religion played in the life of the great men and women who are memorialized there.

Our tour will begin at the National Archives, where the Declaration of Independence and Constitution are housed. We will then move onto the Washington Monument, the White House, the Jefferson and Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorials. Lunch will be on your own at the Union Station Food Court. After lunch we will continue the tour of the inside the new Capitol Visitor’s Center where you can explore the only exhibition in the country dedicated to telling the story of the Congress and the construction of the U.S. Capitol. Upon exiting the U.S. Capitol, we will view the Library of Congress and the Supreme Court from the outside. You will hear brief histories of each as well as the religious imagery they may hold. We will conclude our wonderful day with stops at the Lincoln Memorial, as well as the Vietnam Veterans and World War II Memorials. Before departing the city we will have dinner at Buca di Beppo that is included in the cost.
